So always make sure to get a much powerful gem to replace your old gems if you planning to do so. Once you remove and unsocket gems, there is no way to get them back in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Once you place Hel rune, the socketed item, and a Scroll of Town Portal inside Horadric Cube, and press Transmute button, you will get a fresh version of the item or gear with all gems, runes, and jewels removed. Apart from Charms, you can use the cube to hold other items during your runs in D2R. But the main thing to keep in mind is that, if you keep any Charms inside the Horadric Cube, they will not give any extra effects or properties to change your stats.
The costs to unsocket a particular quality is also listed below (listed per gem, that is, each additional gemmed socket increases cost accordingly). They are free to put into sockets, but have a gold cost to remove from sockets.
It might feel hectic to always open and close the Horadric Cube to move items to and fro, but it’s well worth it. Place 3 gems of one type into the Horadric Cube and click the Transmute button.
This item takes up 4 spaces in your inventory, but you can open it up to get 12 additional inventory spaces. Horadric Cube can also be used to increase the inventory size in Diablo 2 Resurrected.
